The show’s stage adaptation was taken out of the story of Jack’s true love interest to Sarah Jacobs, who happens to be the sister of Les and Davey, and Brian Denton (New York Sun reporter), who writes about Newsies the Musical.
The ‘Newsies the Musical’ started its journey in the Broadway world on March 29, 2012 at the Nederlander Theater, where they had their limited previews dated on May 15, 2012. The limited engagement on the show’s previews ran until August 19, 2012.
At the beginning of their on-Broadway show, the production was originally packed with casts, including Jeremy Jordan portraying as Jack Kelly, John Dosset as Joseph Pulitzer (the newspaper tycoon), Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Capathia Jenkins as Medda Larkin, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, and Matthew Schecter and Lewis, who both portray the character of Les.
