Matilda the Musical is an on stage musical show inspired on the children’s novel by Roal Dahl. Originally written by Dennis Kelly, Matilda the Musical tells a story focusing about Matilda. The musical show is associated with great music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. Matilda is a 5-year old girl who has a thing for reading books, killing the obstacles initiated by her school and family, and assists her teacher to recoup her life.
The musical numbers featured in the Matilda the Musical comprise a total of two acts, both acts have altered piece that would make the show more inviting and totally splendid. The show uses a console of instruments such as the 10-13-piece orchestra comprising keyboards, brass, strings, reeds and percussion.
The musical show had a twelve-week trial run at the Stratford-Upon-Avon by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), the trial began from 2010 of November until January 2011. After the show’s trial, the Matilda the Musical show received its first West End premiere at the Cambridge Theater on November 24, 2011, and its first Broadway premiere on April 2013 at the Shubert Theater.
For the show’s Broadway history, Matilda the Musical has compiled several awards, including the seven 2012 Oliver Awards. Since the time of the show’s formation until present times, the show has been admired and has continued to grow in fame.
In the 2013 Oliver Awards, the show now equally holds a record with the musical play “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time”. During the Tony Awards in the year 2013, the musical show had won a total of 5 awards, including the award for Best Book of a Musical.
Recently, the show has been running at the London’s West End and on-Broadway in New York City, it is accompanied with the show’s approaching tour around the United States in May of 2015, and launching in Sydney, Australia this coming August of 2015.
